The Occupational Safety & Health Administration has revised the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), aligning it with the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). This change to conform to the GHS affects all employers who had to comply with the old HCS standard and the Minnesota Employee Right-to-Know (RTK). This 2.5-hour course is designed to give MN employers the information they need to understand the new GHS system and prepare them for the implementation of new labeling and Safety Data Sheet (formerly Material Safety Data Sheets) requirements. Employers must complete all training regarding new label elements and Safety Data Sheets by December 1, 2013.
