Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has revealed one of her beauty secrets this week. As well as regularly doing yoga and attending the gym to keep in shape, she posted a picture of herself on twitter this week drinking a mysterious glass of green juice. The juice contains green vegetables like cucumber, kale and parsley as well as the supplement Chlorella, an entirely natural product which is thought to enhance the health of your nails, skin and hair.
Chinese Chlorella is a type of tiny unicellular fresh water algae that contains many valuable nutrients including nine essential amino acids which our bodies cannot produce by themselves. It is collected and dried to form a paste which can be crushed to a powder, and turned into soft tablets which retain a vague smell of the sea. In order to obtain the same amount of iron as you would get from Chlorella tablets, you would need to eat nearly 300g of spinach. To get the same amount of vitamin B12, you would need to eat a 32oz steak!
Some of the benefits of this green juice include helping to cleanse the skin and improve energy levels, sleep patterns and help to prevent split nails. Hailed as a superfood, research shows that it may even help to fight diseases like diabetes, obesity and heart disease.
